Melanique Floyd, Director

Melanique FloydMelanique Floyd is a product of Bibb County School District and serves as the Director of Professional Learning. She has worked for the district for 22 years, serving as a teacher, academic coach, Professional Learning Specialist, Human Resources, Coordinator, and currently Director. Mrs. Floyd is passionate about supporting teachers and staff by building relationships and providing support through training and coaching experiences. She is committed to the work of the success of the students and staff in our district. She works in the PL Department to provide quality professional development experiences for all staff members to improve their knowledge and skills, thereby supporting district-wide improvement and increasing student achievement.

Mrs. Floyd holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education, Master's degree in Curriculum, Instruction and Technology, and an Education Specialist degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Management. She is a native of Macon, GA and resides here with her husband and children.

Laurie Johnson, Budget Assistant

Laurie Johnson Laurie A. Johnson is a native of Macon, GA and the daughter of retired educators. She is a proud graduate of Central High School. Laurie holds a degree in business from Middle GA State University. She is a proud United States Marine Corps
Veteran. Ms. Johnson has been employed with Bibb County School District for 22 years. Her job duties include managing the budgets for Professional Learning and Title IIA. Laurie truly enjoys her job and finds pleasure in serving the employees of BCSD. 

Laurie is the proud mother of three sons and 6 grandchildren.

Michelle Spivey, Program Assistant



Michelle SpiveyMichelle Spivey works as the Program Assistant for the Professional Learning Department. Michelle brings a wealth of knowledge and experience having worked as a registrar, Data Sustainment Specialist, and has banking experience. Michelle supports PL training by posting and tracking professional learning activities, maintaining endorsement records, tracking staff transcripts. She also manages and maintains the training spaces at the Professional Learning Center by assisting with and supporting all training activities. Michelle is dedicated to ensuring that every staff member and community partner receive the best experience possible. Michelle resides in Macon with her daughter.

Catrice Allen - District Intervention Coach, PL Support

catrice allen2Catrice Allen has over 15 years of experience in the field of education. She originates from the twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago and traveled to the U.S. to attend college. She started her career as a science teacher at the secondary level before moving to elementary where she served as a teacher and an academic coach. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education.
She is passionate about working with educators to ensure success for all students. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated the ability to deliver effective professional development at both the school and district level while fostering a positive climate and culture by encouraging educators to develop individual skills. Catrice currently serves as District Intervention Coach supporting our secondary schools. She resides in Macon with her husband and two sons.

Shana Burton, District Intervention Coach, PL Support


Shana BurtonShana Burton, a native of Macon, GA, is a product of Bibb County School District. She is also a graduate of Bibb County School District. She is also a graduate of Georgia Southern University (B.S. in English Education), Cambridge College (M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction), and Thomas University (Ed.S. in Teacher Leadership). She has worked in the field of education for 22 years, having served as a high school English and journalism teacher, an ELA curriculum consultant for the Georgia Department of Education, a standardized test writer, and rater, a literacy coach, and a college program director. She currently serves a District Intervention Coach.

In addition, Ms. Burton is also the author of ten books and has been nominated for Georgia's Author of the Year twice.
